Green...no brown juice

So the morning I made green juice was an epic fail in all regards. I had been so excited to make green juice for breakfast after spin class at 6:45am. I prepped all the veggies and cut an apple and measured out protein powder and put it in the fridge waiting to refresh me after a morning of exercise. Yeah, right. So I woke up at 5:45 to hear that it was icy outside and went back to bed. Got up late after turing off my alarm and figured green juice would be a good breakfast to throw in my nalgene and take to work. Wrong.

So somehow all of the proportions were off and it was taking for ever to blend, loudly in the blender. The frozen strawberries were COVERED in ice and it just wasn't coming together like it normally does. I keep adding frozen mango, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, anything to make it palatable. It turns brown. Like the remnants of baby formula post digestion. Mmm. Yum.

Well I finally got it tasting ok, I pour it in my water bottle and figure I'm on my way. Well I didn't notice it spilled all down my pants. Like I just tried to change said child's diaper. Hmm. Not good. Then it turns out the the sidewalks were sealed in ice and I wasn't going anywhere. At least that was a positive. As it turns out, I needed to have added more orange juice to it. Small mistake, but it really changed the outcome.

Perhaps I'll try this again soon, and we'll see if I ever actually make it to spin class.

Anyway, with the beef tangine out, I'm trying to think of ideas of what to make I wasn't expecting coming off of the holidays to be so difficult to my cooking motivation. I'm set on finding some new ideas though and getting back into the swing of things!

Peapod!

So as some of you may know, I threw my back out again on the flight to Seattle. Never fear! Peapod is rescuing me. I wish they had a larger selection of organic food, however, the Nature's Promise Organics is affordable and comes by way of Peapod to my door. I'm getting my delivery tonight. On the docket so far is green juice. Mmm. I'll post my recipe, but green juice is so easy, tasty, and so healthy!

I'm trying to figure out other ideas tough. I'm going to make a beef and squash dish, I have had vegetarian chili requested and am thinking about that one as well. Maybe I'll incorporate some quinoa. I got a few ingredients in this Peapod to challenge myself so we'll see. I totally regret not getting beets. I LOVE beets. I am going to try and make a whole wheat bead this weekend. Should be fun!

My new goal is to try and make not just good food, but healthy food. New cooking adventures abound!
